In recent years, Greece has been trying to highlight its transit character and strengthen its international competitiveness. In association with the above goals and taking advantage of a former Industrial Park that while experiencing degradation in recent decades, has developed an identity related to the sector of road transport, the present research was carried out in order to identify the conditions and shortcomings that exist, in order to form a transport cluster in the area.
The study lasted 6 months and was conducted through the analysis of entrepreneurs' views through interviews. Initially, interviews were conducted for the development of a questionnaire, which was distributed electronically to local businesses, followed by interviews in order to analyze more completely the results of the questionnaire. The research concluded that in the area of Botanikos-Eleonas, although there is no institutionalized cluster, there are some evidence such as the existence of structure and governance that cultivate a favorable climate for its future formulation. However, key shortcomings in the area were identified, such as the poor physical infrastructure and the lack of cooperation of local companies with educational institutions, for which proposals were made.
