Abstract

Τhe goal of this paper is to investigate the students’ performance during the financial crisis, which broke out on 2008 and greatly affected the majority of EU member states. First, we present the impact of the crisis to the education system. Next, we present the PISA system and we evaluate students’ performance prior to 2008. After establishing the prior performance of students, we investigate the respective performance during the crisis, and we then compare both cases to identify significant changes on students’ efficiency. Emphasis is given in the case of Greece. Finally, we provide conclusions and remarks based on our study.
