As China faces harsh challenges by the increased energy demand and global warming caused by the use of fossil fuels, many targets being set by the Chinese government to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy structure and push for the construction of wind, solar and hydro energy power plants. This study examines the significant rise of China’s renewable energy industry by analyzing the historical decisions that made China adopt the renewable energy model, its technological contributions to the global industry, the economic data of this transition and further investigates the development of the top three renewable energy sources China is using, solar energy, wind energy and hydro energy.
