In our time, the traditional way of teaching is still commonplace so that two of the
most basic skills of the 21st century, such as creativity and co-operation, are not
cultivated.
To promote these skills, an online mixed learning e-course for elementary students
was designed and launched online with the help of the Weebly online tool. The basic
theoretical model was the adaptation of Design Thinking to elementary students,
The Launch Cycle method. The modules and activities of the course were structured
according to its stages and orchestrated by The 6 Thinking Hats creative strategy to
promote creativity among students. In more detail, the hat sequences for Problem
Solving and Quick Evaluation were used.
The students worked in groups organized using the Brainstorming and Jigsaw
collaborative strategies to develop their partnerships. The lesson was implemented
in the classroom with the help of i-Pad 2.0 devices.
The study was applied to a small sample of students (18) in the Primary School Class
F in the form of a case study. Pre-control and post-control rubrics were created for
data collection. From the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data gathered
at the beginning and the end of the process, it appears that the trainees remained
largely at the same level of creativity as they had before the lesson, the co-operation
between them increased and the lesson was quite effective.
The contribution of the present study therefore focuses on the results obtained, in
order to demonstrate an alternative way of learning based on the combination of
the new method of The Launch Cycle and The 6 Thinking Hats, using technology
related to creativity and collaboration and ways that this could be improved in the
future.
