This thesis deals with the course of the Athens Exchange (ATHEX), during the period from 1999 to 2016, examining a range of the most important indicators of the stock market in order to make a comprehensive analysis and lead to useful conclusions. In particular, taken into account the Greek Economy, as well as the most critical economic, political and social events throughout the period, eventually becoming a more extensive analysis of the course of the Athens Exchange. The main purpose of this thesis is to understand that how from the historical high of the Stock Exchange in 1999 led to the very low levels of the times of the Greek Economic Crisis and also to take stock of the devaluation of the Athens Stock Exchange and the amount of funds lost during the entire period. Finally, an attempt is made to present some proposals for a more orderly functioning of the Athens Stock Exchange, so as to prevent the Greek Financial System from facing up to such disastrous events in the future.
