The purpose of this paper is to present the language & teaching policies of the
Greek language, as a second / foreign language. An extensive analysis of the
concerned bibliography on the objectives of linguistic policy and planning is carried
out. Moreover, the paper presents the situation regarding the teaching of Greek
language as a second / foreign language and its particular aspects. The analysis and
compares the case of the Greek language with those of the English and German
languages. It is followed by two educational scenarios: one for the A’ junior high
school grade and one for the C’ junior high school grade.
Finally, this research presents its conclusions and suggestions on the
educational policy.
