Leadership is one of the most important factors in order to achieve goals. During the last years many businesses have understood its importance, yet in many cases businesses focus only on the outcome without paying attention to the impact to employees. This leads to reduced job satisfaction and exhaustion (burnout). The purpose of this thesis is to define the meaning of leadership and its relation to job satisfaction and burn out. This has been achieved through a review in scientific articles and books and through an empirical study by using a questionnaire to investigate the relevance of the above. The questionnaire was provided to 5 departments of a medium sized company and then SPSS statistical software was used to extract the results. The research has shown a strong negative relationship between job satisfaction and job burnout, as well as a positive relationship between leadership and satisfaction under the condition that the leadership style is human oriented.
