This diploma thesis aims to address issues related to the medical tourism industry, with a focus on Greece and comparing it with countries abroad. At the same time, the contribution of medical tourism to the economy and comparison with health spending is examined. As a methodology, recent literature is first reviewed by searching sources, through the databases available on the Internet. The results of the literature review show that medical tourism is, for many countries, identified with their economic growth. The findings of the research lead to the conclusion that Greece needs to take many steps to enhance medical tourism through the design of a strategic plan, based on innovation and the introduction of successful practices that are being used by other countries.
