The aim of this dissertation is the statistical analysis of the mortality and the morbidity of the population of Greece by cause at regional level for the year of 2011. The analysis was carried out for both sexes combined (men and women), for all the age groups; for the purpose of the analysis we use statistical information derived from 2011 population census, vital statistics and hospital data collected and published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). Also, the Crude Death Rates (CDR) and the Standardized Death Rates (SDR) and the Standardized Morbidity Rates (SMR) are estimated and presented.
Based on the Crude Death Rate, the Peloponnese region has the highest mortality rate, whereas based on the Standardized Death Rate, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region has the highest mortality rate. Men's mortality is higher than that of women. Finally, high rates of morbidity are due to infectious and parasitic diseases (INF), respiratory diseases (RES), diseases of the nervous system and sensory organs (NEV) and to injuries and externals causes (EXT) with dominant regions Peloponnese and Crete
