The present research deals with the influence of Behavioral Economics in the design of pension schemes, as well as on the way households save. The purpose of this Master Thesis is to present the basic content and the beginnings of Behavioral Economics, the theoretical frameworks that govern the field, through a bibliographic overview, their extensions and their applications on major issues, such as the design of insurance pension products, the savings behavior and retirement spending. A significant portion of the analysis will be done using the Database of SHARE 50+, which is a survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe. The Survey of Health, Ageing and retirement in Europe (SHARE) is a multidisciplinary and cross-national panel database of micro data on health, socio-economic status and social and family networks of more than 120,000 individuals aged 50 or older (more than 297,000 interviews). The number of Countries that are involved in this Project is 18 (17 European ones and Israel). The results that will be presented can be insightful reference points for the design of future policies and will continue to improve due to the fact that the Waves – for – Analysis are only increasing in the SHARE database.
