This thesis aims to investigate the impact of exploitation and exploration on business ambidexterityas well as the relationship of ambidexterityand business performance. In addition, innovation over time has been addressed as a concept by several researchers while according to the literature it is closely linked to the exploitative and exploratory activities of the enterprises and contributes substantially to their achievement. Innovation is therefore an integralpart of business ambidexterity and its application creates added value in exploration and exploitation. Finally, organizational ambidexterity is defined as the ability of companies to “align and be effective in managing currentbusiness requirements, while adapting to changes in the environment”(Raisch & Birkinshaw, 2008).
