In a period of economic crisis in many European Union countries, particularly in the southern regions, there is a high degree of health inequality in contrast of the other member states.Factors that lead to this situationare the different lifestyles, the economic status of the country, the geographical position, the structure and size of society, the state of population health,as wellas the state’s action measures of promoting health. Thus, actions for international comparisons make it difficult to determine the best prospects with the aim to prevalence health in the whole populationequally, without consuming additional resources and expenses. This combination, togetherwith population retention in primary health carewould considerably reduce morbidity rates, which would otherwise result in intensive care units at a much higher cost due to the specialized use. For this reason, efficient management of intensive care units aiming to reduce costs should be based on the inputs and outputs of patients who they need this kind of treatment, onbasis of defined criteria. The ultimate goal is to increase the population’s healthy life expectancy, which will lead to increased productivity and competitiveness, evolving in this wayother areas of society in need.
