This Diploma Thesis was developed in the context of the completion of the postgraduate diploma from the Postgraduate Program "Technoeconomic Management and Security of Digital Systems" of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus entitled "Legal issues of service level agreements in digital data storage contracts cloud SLAs in Europe ".
The work, in the first instance, attempts to analyse the distinction made with the types of services offered through the cloud environment. Then, a brief analysis of these services and the technologies used is made, highlighting the complexity of the services offered in a cloud computing environment.
Due to the above complexity, an attempt is made to analyse the legal issues that arise. An analysis is made on the basis of new General Data Protection Regulation, the applicable law and the legislation governing Service Level Agreements in cloud computing environment. An important part of this work is also about specific technical issues, such as what protection measures are taken by service providers in the cloud computing environment to evaluate a Service Level Agreement.
Reference is also made to the standardization guidelines of the Service Level Agreements in cloud computing environment of the European Commission Working Group and the objectives outlined therein, as well as the criteria for selecting the appropriate provider and the appropriate service. An important part of this paper analyzes the interoperability and portability of systems used by service providers and how they are evaluated during business.
Finally, reference is made to how a Service Level Agreement is assessed in a cloud environment and how the service provider's compliance with the contract is monitored, and how that is accomplished.
