Experimental designs help us study the effect or the effects of some controlled factors on the response variables that are of interest. There are many applications, such as industrial experiments, where cost minimization is very important. However, as the number of the effects of interest increases, the cost of the experiment rises as well. This fact led to the construction of more economic experiments, with which we will be able to investigate a large number of variables, by performing a relatively smaller set of runs.
The aforementioned search led to the use of supersaturated designs that offer the flexibility of studying many variables, using only few experimental runs. In this way, experimental cost is reduced. In this study, methods for constructing optimal supersaturated designs and some optimization criteria will be presented, along with some examples of optimal supersaturated designs.
