Abstract
Nowadays, there are constant economic, political and social changes. The result of these changes is the emergence of a migratory current, that has caused social changes and the societies have been turned around into multicultural environments. Greece has not been got away from this trend since it is one of the countries which is still receiving a large number of migrants and refugees today, redefining the composition of society. This emerging multicultural reality brings about significant changes in many areas, especially in the field of education, requiring intercultural education as a prerequisite, so that there are equal learning opportunities for all students. Particularly the role of the teacher is very important and prevalent, because he is called upon to act and try to respond to the needs of the new multicultural reality, promoting intercultural education and transforming the class into an area of expression for all students without exceptions.
The aim of the present study is to examine the relationship between intercultural competence and readiness to the school performance of culturally diverse students in language courses, by recording the views of teachers serving in intercultural classes of the EPAS of OAED The research also seeks to highlight and mention the problems faced by teachers in teaching courses as well as the sources of training and support for teachers in intercultural education. Finally, through the quantitative approach is presented the level of intercultural competence and promptitude of teachers.
