The purpose of this diploma thesis is to highlight and compare and contrast the costs of the shipping companies operating in the tramp and liner shipping industry. More specifically, this thesis contains an analytical description of traits that summarize each shipping industry, their operating costs, description of prevailing conditions and finally a case study of a comparative analysis of the operating expenses of liner companies in a way to inspect whether the size or know-how of both companies affects the particular costs.
