The aim of this postgraduate dissertation is to develop a friendly desktop application called MyNauticalMap, the purpose of which is to provide useful information on a nautical map. More specifically, this application, built with the help of Microsoft Visual Studio and DotSpatial libraries, will freely use spatial data with maritime content, while allowing the user the ability to store string data (e.g. atmospheric temperature, sea temperature, density, availability of phone network) to a map and image type data (e.g. jpeg, png) to a SQL Server database, which will be offline. Thanks to the different needs of each type of ship, it should be possible to change the data imported with a user-friendly interface. The result of the dissertation will therefore be a desktop application that will provide hydrographic and not only information about the Greek territory and will be able to extract the stored attribute table data in an Excel file. The above file will then be loaded into a database in which search functions will be executed to facilitate the end user.
