Diving undeniably constitutes one of the most beautiful and henceforth interesting
recreational activities, offering simultaneously exercise, health, intellectual activity and
mental calmness. A lot of foreign visitors combine their vacation in Greece with
recreational diving, attracted by the vast geophysical, cultural and historical
possibilities or the country’s marine environment. The research problem focuses on the
lack of a comprehensive imprinting of the Greek Diving Tourism Industry and the
interrelations between the institutions that function in it. Consequently, the aim of the
present thesis is to present an in depth analysis on the current situation and future
direction concerning the growth of diving tourism in Greece, by identifying the forces
involved in the Greek industry and evaluating their work.
