Abstract

The purpose of the above dissertation is to analyze capital movements controls used in many countries as a tool for stabilizing flows. Initially, the concept of capital controls and their differences are determined by country of application, while reference is made to both their positive and negative impacts. In addition, a literature review is being carried out in countries where restrictions on capital movements have been applied – such as countries of Latin America, Iceland, Cyprus, Greece - and an analysis of the impact on their economies. In the sequel, a capital control research in Iceland is conducted using data and parameters to analyze the impact on Foreign Direct Investment. Furthermore, we present a relevant presentation with tables and processing of these data with the appropriate statistical tools while all things considered we come up with conclusions.
