Abstract

Main object of the present study is Greek Shipping and the effects that suffered by the financial crisis. The aim of this work is to record and evaluate the impact of the economic crisis in Greek Shipping, as well as recording the reaction of the shipping industry’s businessmen at its effects. This study consists of four chapters. In the first chapter we present the history of the Greek shipping industry and the global economic recession of 1929 that marked global economy as well as the contribution of Greek shipping to the national economy. Also, the present tax regime is presented in the same section. Second chapter refers in detail at the financial crisis in international and national shipping. The third section deals with the financing. Reference is made in shipping circles, emphasizing the fundraising analyzing forms of funding, as well as the problems that crisis has caused to that sector, too. Finally, at the fourth chapter, we represent the ways of dealing with the maritime crisis as well as the prospects of Greek Shipping.
