The present thesis is concerned about the way, smart objects create friendship relationships between each other so as to communicate and solve problems, so as to help and relieve humans from every day simple functions. Furthermore, this thesis presents the basic models, which are used to evaluate the trust of the nodes of a system, that is composed of smart objects.
In the beginning, the thesis introduces the world of Internet of Things, by giving its definition, the main applications on which it is used and the way it was evolved throughout the years. Continuing, the smart objects are studied and the way their properties were used so as to lead to the evolution of Internet of Things.
After that, the thesis quotes the basic models on which the relationships between smart objects are constructed and examples are given so as to be well understood. Social exchange theory is introduced so as to help the above models improve and focus better on the needs of the human users.
In the end, there are presented the models which are used to calculate and manage the trust of each smart object in the network. Many problems can arise, when the systems is under attack by a malicious node, so it is of utmost importance for it to be protected. The social exchange theory can be used to the above models so as to customize better the experience for each special user.
