This study deals with the phenomenon of organ transplantation in Greece, in an attempt to highlight the problems that arise mainly due to the moral issues and also due to the lack of the relevant mentality in Greece for organ transplantation. The study is theoretical and was based on books and articles by the theorists who have dealt with the topic of organ transplantation. The main conclusion of the study is that Greece has the lowest number of organ donations compared to all European countries. The crisis of organ donation in Greece does not represent only the direct negative effects of the financial crisis, but it also reflects the underlying health system’s inadequacy and the attitude of people towards organ donation. Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt a culture that will support organ transplantation. The prompt and timely information to all people about the positive benefits of tissue and organ transplantation, a project undertaken in Greece by the National Transplantation Organization (EOM), is imperative.
