Abstract
This thesis deals with the implementation of the Regulation on the Monitoring,
Reporting and Verification of CO2 Emissions from Maritime Transportation. Initially,
the contribution of shipping to air pollution and its impact on the environment is
described. Reference is then made to the EEDI and SEEMP indicators, their main
features and the purpose they serve. In addition, the MRV Regulation of the European
Union is analyzed and compared with the International Maritime Organization's data
collection system. Finally, a link is made between the MRV Regulation and the term
Digital Ship, and reference is made to some infrastructure that could be adopted by
the shipping companies.
