The economic environment makes up one of the most decisive factors of social welfare. Despite its great importance, however, for a large percentage of the population remains obscure and vague. Banks, financial products and all economic operators should coexist harmoniously in order for a country to function properly and with growth prospects to provide a high standard of living for its citizens. The recent global economic crisis has led many Western countries in unprecedented and very difficult situations. Powerful economic powers much like the United States and the United Kingdom saw their financing institutions collapse and the society being in a state of panic. In order not to further aggravate the crisis to a pint where its effects to become irreversible, governments of developed countries have planned and acted accordingly for the purpose of reviving recapitalization and restructuring of the economic system. Banks as the main pillars of the economy were the focus of these corrective actions. Particularly in the USA and the UK measures were taken for the purpose of rescuing banking institutions.
