The purpose of this research project is the enquiry into the educational needs of nursing staff of Panarkadiko General Hospital of Tripoli. Specifically is enquired the percentage of people that have retrained according to their administrative level, their willingness for retraining and their perception of continuing retraining as a motive for ideal productivity and performance in their workplace. Also it is examined if the organization is making plans for educational programs and what are their forms. It is also recorded the means that are used and the motives that are given to induce the nursing stuff. The research project is divided in two paths. In the first part we have a literature review of the topic with main priorities: Nursery Education in Greece (definition, scope, stage of development and local bodies). Instigation and Motivation (theories, methods and stimulation techniques, role of incentives),Continuing Education (definition, meaning, scope, necessity forms, motivation) Educational Programs of Continuing Education (goals, characteristics, limiting factors). The second part, includes the research part, where we analyze proportion and comparison of the results as they arise from the questionnaires that we collected from our research. In the seven chapter the findings of this project are presented. In the last chapter are presented some conclusions and new ideas are given for new programs which aim in lifelong learning education.
The main findings shows that a small percentage of the nursing staff have retrained, despite the fact that they believe that continuing education is very important. Additional, for the organization we find at the absence of operational flexibility, which allows staff to educate and develop multiple skills.
