This work is a theoretical and practical approach to the ways and means used in a computer-assisted study of Classics in higher education. We examine here both the theoretical schema of such a study, and its application in practice. In the first part of the work we analyze the theoretical guidelines and the most influential digital media and resources employed. In the second part we present the conditions and results of a relevant pilot project. Initially, we focus on the theory that enframes the experiment: the teaching modelof Blended Learning. Consequently, we discuss the Learning Management System(LMS) via which our experiment was implemented. Moreover, we analyze in detail all the digital tools used in the project (Perseus, LSJ, Mikros Apoplous, etc.). The second part of this work is devoted to thoroughly presenting our educational experiment. We discuss its objectives, ways of organizing, implementation method, results and conclusions. This way we provide the research protocol of our experiment, which was carried out at the Department of Classical Studies of the Universityof Athens from September 29, 2009 to January 28, 2010. The participants were students of the 3rd semester of the graduate programme, enrolled at the Ancient Greek Literature course (Sophocles Philoctetes (FA21)). The main objective of the present work is the osmosis of two fields of research:educational technology and Classics. Because of the diametrically opposite nature ofthe fields, we attempted to find a point of contact between them in teaching, and hence our effort was to highlight this fact and all its aspects. We hope we made clear how Classics can be a fruitful field for computer supported education.
