In more detail, a decision making definition, a short historical background and some types of decisions are discussed in order to point out the differences between rational and irrational decision making. In the second part a relation between decision making and project decision chain is analyzed. The basic argument of this chapter is the following: Which are the requirements for successful decision making? For this purpose it is crucial to define successfully concepts like project success, project management success and ongoing project success. Moreover, the Business Process Management and the Business Process Modeling Notation are proposed as the proper tools to answer the previous question.
