The immigrant issue in Greece refers to the systematic unlawful entry of large numbers of third country nationals in the country during the period of 2014 - 2015. The present thesis deals with the economic impact of high migration flows, through the prism of social and cultural impact, while providing a clear analysis of the costs of medical services and humanitarian aid distribution, initially at border islands where the first reception process and registration of displaced people takes place, and then through actions in support of third country nationals, during their passage through the country to other countries in central and northern Europe, or when they are in the process of processing asylum applications, family reunification and voluntary repatriation. The accumulation of large numbers of migrants and refugees, especially in the years 2014 - 2015 is really unprecedented for the indigenous Greek population, creating a major social, political and economic issue, with completely different analytical approaches and suggestions from the Greek political systems. Greece is identifiable as the main migration entrance to Europe for the period 2005 - 2015, and has been specifically described as "Europe's gateway for irregular migration". The purpose of this project is the depiction of the current situation in the Greece, through an assessment study of the impact of migration on social, geopolitical and economic context.
