When someone refers to international trade in fact refers to shipping. The shipping activity is a means survey and forecasting of the global economic situation and is inextricably linked with both environmental and geopolitical and political developments. The thesis below gives a picture of this association presenting the environmental developments and how these affect the commercial shipping industry. Based on the Law of the Sea, will be analyzed the main international regime in the wider area of the North Pole in connection with navigation and perspectives of the same area. In particular will be analyzed the present situation regarding the navigation possibilities and particularly, as shown, enlarged perspective navigation and maritime trade in this area due to the ongoing reduction of the ice in the same area. If this situation is continuous, it is obvious that creates perspectives for navigation and maritime trade, intractable problems concerning the protection of the marine environment in the same area but also confrontations and competition between the arctic states for control and influence in the region. Basic legal regime for this area and the peaceful settlement of disputes is the law of the sea and some new rules of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
