The purpose of this thesis (dissertation) is to draw up an Investment/Business Plan for the development of a 1.0 MWel biogas station for electricity production (method: biomass gasification) in Municipality of Souli, Prefecture of Thesprotia, Region of Epirus, NW Greece. It is mentioned that electricity production through biomass gasification is a Renewable Energy Source/RES. More analytically, in the first chapter a concise mention is carried out regarding the institutional framework and the legislation governing the licensing process for the development and implementation of a biomass/biogas project for electricity production as well as a brief explanation of the basic technical terms that are used inter alia in the present dissertation (introductory chapter). Subsequently, in the second chapter an extensive analysis of the RES market in Greece and particularly the sector of electricity production from biomass/biogas is carried out. The next chapter (3rd) includes a technical report in which the operation of a 1.0 MWel biogas station for electricity production is described (by sector) and the process of electricity (and thermal energy) production through gasification is explained in detail. The fourth chapter includes the financial analysis and evaluation of the investment plan. In this chapter a cash flow analysis as well as a detailed viability study are elaborated (Business/Financial Plan). The fifth chapter includes a depth analysis of the environmental impacts of the said biogas station in the wider region of Prefecture of Thesprotia and a parallel analysis of the natural and human (social-economical) environment of the region. Finally, the study is completed by a general conclusion regarding the considered investment and the recording of the bibliographic, internet and other sources of all information and data that are included in the present thesis. Overall, we would say that the present extensive study-dissertation (thesis) may be a useful manual-advisory guide, for every interested investor, studier or researcher that wants to be informed about the technical characteristics as well as the attractiveness and lucrativeness from a financial and environmental point of view of a biogas station for electricity production through biomass gasification in Greece and especially in Regional Unit of Thesprotia.
