Electronic auction is one of the most popular e-commerce models. The introduction of internet has been a milestone in the consolidation of online auctions. Procedures have change as matters to the public undertakings and e-auctions dominate the markets nowadays. As a result, companies must adapt in the new conditions in order to increase the possibilities of undertaking. Participating companies should create a closed offer that complies with specific criteria. Based on these criteria, there will be a decision whether the company will acquire the project or not. This project examined auctions and closed bids where companies took place in order to acquire projects from national on-line auction system. An analysis of different types of auctions follows where each auction has advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, it is discussed which type of auction is chosen in national and international level. Furthermore, a reference to public procurement will take place along with the analysis of the procedure bidders followed. Consideration is given in the criteria that usually indicate on how a company can win a project auction. Criteria may differ from frim to firm so dominant firms will not acquire easily any projects. An examination of cases which took place in Greece but also abroad will take place as this project aims to understand the exact procedure of on-line auctions. Summing up, the project aims to propose recommendations that will improve companies’ possibilities to acquire any future on-line auctions.
