The subject of this dissertation is the creation of a full stack Internet of Things (IoT) solution. The dissertation studies the required theoretical background, as well as the end-to-end security considerations of the IoT underlying technologies that are used. The specially built for this dissertation wireless IoT devices, called Arduino & Raspberry Pi modules, and their Software are presented next. These devices connect to an intermediate computer, called IoT Client, using specialized application. After that, they send data from their sensors to another application that gathers all these data and presents them via a web site to the end user. The above-mentioned Hardware and Software are study subjects regarding the security of the transmitted data between the sensors and the end user. There are two modes of operation, the secure and the insecure. The former takes into consideration and protects against a variety of common attack fields, while the later offers no protection at all. This aims to showcase every security matter throughout the overall architecture and propose solutions accordingly. The dissertation sums up by listing the conclusions extracted from the case study.
