Internet has opened new horizons in communication while it has brought tremendous benefits to the society at the same time. Penetration into humans’ daily lives has created a tremendous technological breakthrough culminated in the integration of social media into human life. In this fast-paced environment, it becomes imperative for businesses to adapt to changes and integrate technology into their processes. The subject of the current dissertation is the ‘Recruiting methods in digital era’. The purpose of the essay is to determine whether companies use the internet during their recruitment processes in order to attract and select applicants, while it compares online to traditional recruitment methods. The key elements that led to the survey are the current trends in the recruitment and selection process, the use of social media to attract and select candidates and compare them to conventional methods. The theoretical overview of the first part, is an attempt to understand the aforementioned terms according to the literature available. In particular, at first traditional methods and policies applied by companies are examined and then the Internet approach with the advantages and risks involved is explored. It is observed that the use of various electronic tools helps both the company and the potential employee to collaborate quickly and efficiently. E-recruitment facilitates savings, increases the number of choices, and improves the time required for recruitment processes. Apart from the information obtained from the literature review, the empirical study analyzed a Greek firm established in the field of advisory services. It has been considered whether it has incorporated an electronic approach into its procedures, how much has been influenced by the evolution of the internet, whether it has accepted this new reality and how quickly it has integrated it into its processes. From the results of surveys conducted by experienced consultants of the studied company with the use of a semi-structure questionnaire, it is concluded that the company adapted to the new environment created by the technological developments and exploits its benefits. However it considers traditional methods at the same time, due to the fact that constitute the basis for the new one.
